Ahafo: We Didn’t Endorse Bawumia – Deputy Chief Imam

The Ahafo Regional Deputy Chief Imam Alhaji Unus Ahmed Mohamed (Alhaji Takoradi) has denied reports circulating on various media platforms that Ahafo Zongo Chiefs and Imams have endorsed the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Vice President Dr Alhaji Mahaudu Bawumia ahead of the December 7 polls.

According to Alhaji Unus, a day visit to Ahafo Region by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Zongo Chief of Sankore, Naaba Halidu alleged to have made some statements which suggest they are solidly behind the NPP and Dr. Bawumia for victory during a meeting at Kukuom.

Alhaji Ahmed Mohamed wishes to state it categorically that the words of the said Sankore Zongo Chief was bound by his own but not all Ahafo imams Zongo chiefs and Imams, hence they need to set the record straight.

He also stated emphatically that the act of political endorsement is alien to the standard of neutrality and therefore would not engage in such divisive scheme.
