The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is demanding the immediate arrest of the Communication Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Richard Ahiagbah, over an alleged attempt to register in the ongoing limited voter registration exercise at Ketu South, despite evidence that he voted in the 2020 elections.

Richard Ahiagbah was stopped from registering at a centre in Ketu South on Saturday by some NDC supporters, who challenged his eligibility. The incident which was captured on video which has since gone viral, saw some people believed to be supporters of the NDC, preventing him from partaking in the process, demanding from the EC officials to halt the processing of his details. Bringing proceedings at the centre to a temporal halt.

Reacting to the incident in an interview with Metro TV News on Saturday May 11, 2024, Deputy National Communication Officer of the NDC, Malik Basintale, alleged that Richard Ahiagbah’s attempt to register was a clear case of double registration, which is a criminal offense under the laws of the country, and that is why they are calling on the Ghana Police Service to immediately arrest and question him.

“We will not tolerate this attempt by the NPP to use dubious means to steal the mandate of Ghanaians in the December 7 elections. We have the challenge form with us, and we are calling on the Ghana Police Service to arrest him immediately. If they fail to do so, we will initiate a citizen arrest.”
