GPHA Security, Immigration Officers Clash at Tema Port
A heated misunderstanding between the Security of Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) and officials of the Ghana Immigration Service(GIS) has ended in a violent clash.
Kingsjerseymedia gathered from the Meridian Port Services a group of GPHA security numbering about 12 stormed the office of Ghana Immigration Service MPS to pick up two officers for questioning after a misunderstanding that occurred during their routine vessel checks on MSC DYMPHNA.
According to reports, the GPHA security wanted to search the officers upon completion of their work on the vessel, However, one Inspector Benjamin Nketia made it clear that they could search their bags and however rejected their request to search the individual officers because he claimed under no circumstance can a male search a female officer. This however did not go down well with the GPHA Security which resulted in the trading of insults and physical harassment.
After the disagreements on the vessel, the GPHA security officers later stormed the office to issue an arrest of the said officers for their refusal to be searched.
This was met by fierce resistance from the GIS officers degenerating into chaos between the two institutions resulting in the tearing apart of AICO II Boadu uniform.
Authorities disclosed that the matter is currently under investigation.
