Kotokuom Community Leadership Unmasks Galamsey Kingpin

The elders of Kotokuom, a farming community in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region, are outraged by the actions of Kwaku Boah, a former caretaker of their community.

Boah has been making false accusations against Nana Osei Kwame III, the Chief of Atwima Agogo and the overlord of Kotokuom, claiming on the radio that the chief is involved in illegal mining.

The elders assert that Kwaku Boah has no legitimate authority within the community, labeling him an imposter who has been spreading defamatory statements.

According to Opanin Koofie, one of the community elders, it is Kwaku Boah, not Nana Osei Kwame III, who has been involved in illegal mining.

Opanin Koofie claims that Boah hired illegal miners to dredge the Offin River during his tenure as the community’s caretaker, an appointment made by Atwima Agogohene 13 years ago.

Boah’s activities reportedly caused significant environmental damage to the river, leading to the termination of his appointment by the chief.

Kwofie suggests that Boah’s current behavior is motivated by resentment over his dismissal.

He alleges that Boah has been hopping from one radio station to another, attempting to tarnish the reputation of Atwima Agogohene out of spite.

The elders of Kotokuom, therefore, are warning Kwaku Boah to cease his defamatory conduct.

Supporting these claims, Osofo Danso emphasizes that Atwima Agogohene has been a staunch opponent of illegal mining in his jurisdiction.

He notes that the chief has used his own resources to combat such activities. Danso recounts a recent incident where he and the chief personally intervened to remove illegal miners from the affected areas, ensuring that the Offin River remained clean and safe.

Danso further alleges that Kwaku Boah and his niece, who holds the title of ‘Obaapanin’ of Atwima Fankyenebra, are attempting to undermine the chief because he has refused to allow them to engage in illegal mining.

This, according to Danso, is the true motive behind Boah’s attempts to defame the chief.

The elders of Kotokuom have issued a stern ultimatum to Kwaku Boah, demanding that he return to the radio stations and publicly retract his false and irresponsible statements against their respected chief.

Failure to do so, they warn, will compel them to take unspecified actions to address the situation.

The elders stand firm in their support for Nana Osei Kwame III, insisting that he is a responsible and well-respected leader who would never engage in illegal mining activities.
