Bono East: Scary moment as unidentified fuel tanker catches fire under the Tano bridg
A heart-wrenching road crash involving an unidentified fuel tanker has caused havoc at the Ghana Water Company Treatment Facility in Tanoso, located in the Techiman Municipality of the Bono East Region.
The vehicle, reportedly travelling from the Kumasi end towards the Techiman end of the highway, veered off the road, ran into the treatment area between the bridge and the facility, somersaulted twice, and immediately burst into intense flames after landing sideways.
The unfortunate incident occurred at around 3 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. The cause is yet to be established as the occupants of the vehicle have not been found and are reported to have disappeared from the scene.
Unconfirmed reports suggest significant damage to the facility as the blazing fire extended to the buildings. However, the fire was quickly extinguished by personnel from the Ghana Fire Service in Techiman shortly after their arrival.
The impact of the incident has reportedly caused a power outage affecting areas from Tanoso in the Techiman Municipality of Bono East to Abofour in the Offinso Municipality of the Ashanti Region, as the fallen tanker had knocked down some electrical extension poles.
