WN: “No Roads, No Vote”, Assembly Members/ Residents Of Eluokrom, Papasi, Others Threatens
Led by their assembly members, the residents of Eluokrom, Papasi and its environs in the Bia-West District of the western north region have bare teeth at the Akufo-Addo government and threatened to boycott the December 7 polls over poor roads network.
Narrating their ordeal to the press, they emphasized that the government, knowing very well the district is known of its contribution to the cocoa industry and as one of the highest producers of cocoa in the region, has neglected them in the sharing of the national cake. Adding, the government Cocoa roads project has not benefited them, despite their immense contributions in the sector.
Several assembly members warned that they would campaign against the ruling New Patriotic Party if their demands were not met.
“We won’t vote at all or vote against the Npp if they fail to construct our roads for us. Our children and pregnant wives are dying day in and out on the roads due to the nature of the roads, meanwhile nobody is eager to come to our aid. This road serve several linking Cocoa villages but despite all efforts, the DCE has turned deaf ears to our plea,” they reiterated.
In addition to the story, they noted that there is a total fall of academic performances of their children since teachers and other employees have failed to go to school during rainy seasons due to deplorable nature of the roads, calling on the government to swiftly take action, since they won’t be hesitated to sanction any politician who comes to the communities on campaign tray.
“We shall deal with any politicians who come to our communities to campaign, since they don’t think about us. If you aren’t ready to construct our roads, it means you equally don’t need our votes, so they should stay away if they aren’t ready to do what is needed,” they warned.
